KAMPALA, Uganda — Pearl Bank has won the Banking Services General Banking Accolade at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards, continuing its recognized performance streak.
The bank, which recently rebranded from PostBank, was honored at the Nov. 5 ceremony held at Hotel Africana. The award recognizes the bank’s strong corporate reporting and general banking operations under the awards’ theme, “Sustainability Practices and Reporting in Uncertain Global Times.”
The win is the latest recognition for the institution, which also attained the Sustainability Certification in Germany in October. The bank’s chief financial officer, Peter Ssenyange, recently received individual recognition, winning the Chief Financial Officer of the Year and the Sustainability Awards at the 2025 CFO Awards.
The FiRe Awards, spearheaded by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU), the Capital Markets Authority, and the Uganda Securities Exchange since 2011, aim to encourage transparency and uphold financial reporting standards.
Peter Ssenyange, Pearl Bank’s chief financial officer, emphasized that such industry engagements drive accountability. “Such engagements hold us accountable not only being advocates for best practices in financial reporting but practicing these in our day-to-day operations,” he said. He added that this commitment is crucial for informing shareholders and all stakeholders central to the bank’s growth.
CPA Timothy David Ediomu, ICPAU president, noted that the awards serve to enhance the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda. “The Awards encourage organizations to go beyond compliance, to tell their stories holistically, and to demonstrate how their financial decisions align with broader societal goals,” Ediomu said.
Pearl Bank’s success reflects its ongoing five-year strategic plan, which focuses on high-impact goals to drive sustainable financial inclusion and stimulate entrepreneurship for Ugandans.
Pearl Bank is a fully-fledged commercial bank, 100% owned by the government of Uganda, operating 57 branches and over 8,000 agents nationwide.
