Trading data released by Crested Capital show that 5.11 million Stanbic shares changed hands at an average price of Shs96.52, closing 2.34 points lower, representing a 2.37 per cent decline from its opening price of Shs98.86.
Bank of Baroda Uganda (BOBU) was among the biggest losers, shedding 2.89 per cent to close at Shs105.12 from an opening price of Shs108.25. A total of 271,700 shares were traded at an average price of Shs105.12.
Airtel Uganda also registered a decline, with its share price falling 0.67 per cent to close at Shs193, compared to an opening price of Shs194.31. The telecommunications company’s trading volume stood at 11,000 shares.
The declines point to mixed investor activity on the local equities market, with some counters experiencing price corrections while others remained unchanged.
Quality Chemical Industries Limited (Qcil) was among the few gainers, rising two points, or 1.19 per cent, to close at Shs170 from an opening price of Shs168. The pharmaceutical manufacturer’s trading volume stood at 19,900 shares.
The gain comes a day after Qcil issued a profit warning, informing shareholders that its after-tax profit for the six months ended September 2026 is expected to fall by at least 25 per cent compared to the corresponding period last year.
The company attributed the anticipated decline to a one-off accounting entry arising from a capital gains tax dispute with the Uganda Revenue Authority, which was decided against it.

The market data indicate that trading was concentrated in a few counters, particularly Stanbic, which recorded the highest volume of shares traded during the session.
Investors will continue to monitor corporate earnings announcements, monetary policy developments and broader economic conditions for signals on the direction of the local equities market.
