According to the Uganda High Commission, the meetings took place between June 11 and 15.

A team of Uganda Airlines officials led by the Executive Director, Ms Jennifer Bamuturaki, was in UK last week to hold final meetings with their British aviation counterparts as the national carrier prepares to launch direct flights to the country.

According to the Uganda High Commission, the meetings took place between June 11 and 15.

“A team from Uganda Airlines led by the CEO Ms Jenifer Bamuturaki, was in the UK from 11 – 15 June 2024 for meetings with UK aviation authorities, the business community and the Uganda Diaspora in preparation for the upcoming launch of direct flights between Entebbe – London,” the Uganda High Commission in London wrote X on Thursday.

Uganda Airlines secured slots for departures and landing at London Heathrow Airport after receiving its two Airbus A330-800 Neo aircrafts in December 2020 and February 2021.However, the national carrier has not made any trips to the UK.

In preparation for the groundbreaking event, Ms. Jenifer Bamuturaki, CEO of the national carrier, confirmed that she has been holding meetings with UK aviation authorities, the business community, and the Ugandan diaspora network.

However, she could not confirm when the flights will be launched.

Uganda Airlines currently operates flights to Dubai, Johannesburg, Bujumbura, Nairobi, Mombasa, Zanzibar, Dar es Salaam, Kilimanjaro, Juba, Kinshasa, Mogadishu, Lagos, Nigeria, and Mumbai.
