The drive is part of dfcu Bank’s corporate social responsibility programme as it marks 60 years of existence.
On Friday, dfcu Bank employees and well-wishers donated blood at the company head office in Nakasero.
According to UBTS, 1,500 units of blood are required daily to save bleeding mothers, anaemic children, accident victims, and cancer patients in hospitals.
”Giving blood is an act of kindness. As a bank, we care about the wellbeing of our customers and the community. That is why it is prudent for us to engage in CSR activities that directly impact and transform lives,” Charles Mudiwa, Managing Director, dfcu Bank, said.
Kasozi Brian, the officer for Electronic Blood Donor Recruitment at Uganda Red Cross, welcomed the support from dfcu Bank.
“We want to appreciate dfcu Bank for choosing Uganda Red Cross as your partner in this noble cause. Saving lives is the responsibility of all of us, by doing this drive, you are helping us to reduce the number of Ugandans that lose their lives due to blood shortage,” Kasozi said.
