ENTEBBE, Uganda — President Yoweri Museveni met with leaders from MTN Uganda at State House on Thursday to discuss the expanding influence of telecommunications and financial technology on the country’s development.
The delegation included MTN Uganda Board Chairman Charles Mbire, Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge and General Manager for Corporate Services Enid Edroma.
The discussions centered on how digital connectivity and fintech platforms can support government priorities, specifically by increasing financial inclusion and improving the efficiency of public service delivery.
Museveni praised the company for its ongoing investment in the country. He noted that telecommunications and digital financial services are essential components of Uganda’s broader economic transformation.
The president said the government remains committed to supporting initiatives that strengthen digital inclusion and innovation for all citizens.
MTN leadership credited the government for maintaining an investment climate that allows telecommunications firms to grow and expand their service footprints.
