Ecobank Uganda rewards community heroes with $1,600 award, recognizing selfless contributions to society

KAMPALA, Uganda — Ecobank Uganda has recognized three community organizations for their selfless contributions, awarding them 6 million Ugandan shillings ($1,600) as part of its #EcobankUGExtramile Challenge.

The initiative, launched during Service Month, aimed to celebrate individuals and groups making a positive community impact. Over 1 million people engaged online, submitting 500+ nominations.

Ecobank Uganda Managing Director Grace Muliisa praised the winners: Their selfless work embodies Service Month’s spirit, showcasing individual and group impact.”

Winners Kkids Foundation, Bafrika Creations, and Eco-Warriors Uganda were selected for supporting vulnerable children, promoting social issues through art, and providing eco-friendly menstrual products.

“Ecobank Uganda’s support boosts our efforts to aid vulnerable children,” said Mercy Masika, Kkids Foundation founder.

Bafrika Creations’ Tony Okello echoed gratitude: “This recognition fuels our drive to address social issues through art.”

Eco-Warriors Uganda added: “This award symbolizes collective change. Ecobank Uganda amplifies our mission to promote eco-friendly menstrual products.”
