Overview:
The eight members are Justice Steven Kavuma (Chairperson), Ms Ethel Kamba, Dr. Andrew Alyao Ocero, Mr. Thomas James Kiggundu, Mr. Lubowa Moses Paul, Mr. John Washington Bulindi, Ms Namubiru Sylvia and Mr. Ssemugooma Godfrey.
The Minister of Works and Transport, Gen. Katumba Wamala, has inaugurated the new eight-member Board of Directors of the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA).
The inauguration took place at the Ministry of Works and Transport head office in Kampala on September 27, 2023.
The eight members are Justice Steven Kavuma (Chairperson), Ms Ethel Kamba, Dr. Andrew Alyao Ocero, Mr. Thomas James Kiggundu, Mr. Lubowa Moses Paul, Mr. John Washington Bulindi, Ms Namubiru Sylvia and Mr. Ssemugooma Godfrey.
The Minister congratulated members of the Board who are to play an oversight role over UCAA operations for the next 3 years (2023-2026). He commended two outgoing members; Mr. Zubair Musoke Musaayi and Mrs. Angela Kiryabwire Kanyima for their diligent service on the previous board.
The main tasks of UCAA are setting up national safety standards which are compliant with international standards; economic and safety regulation through regulation of airports, air traffic services and airlines.
The Authority advises government on policy matters concerning civil aviation generally and on matters regarding international conventions relating to civil aviation and the adoption of measures necessary to give effect to the standards and recommended practices of the international air transport system.
