Rwanda’s national carrier RwandAir has suspended flights to Entebbe International Airport because of a surge in COVID-19 cases in Uganda.
In a notice, the airline says: “Due to a surge in Covid-19 cases in Uganda, RwandAir announces the suspension of its flights to Entebbe effective 10 June 2021, until further notice,” adding that:
“RwandAir sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience caused.”
Giving customers, options, the carrier says: “Affected customers can rebook and fly at a later date, once flights resume, at no additional cost-or request a refund.”
This comes after the United Arab Emirates (UAE) announced that it will suspend entry for travellers coming from Zambia, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Uganda starting today June 11, as part of its efforts to contain the spread of the coronavirus in the country.
As of today, the confirmed number of positive Covid-19 cases in Uganda stands at 55,511; among these are 47,760 Ugandan recoveries and 402 deaths.
