Chil Femtech Center leverages AI-guided telemedicine to disrupt correctional healthcare logistics
KAMPALA, Uganda — Chil Femtech Center is deploying its proprietary AI-guided telemedicine platform to restructure healthcare delivery within juvenile correctional facilities across East Africa, targeting the high costs and security risks associated with traditional inmate medical logistics.
The initiative, supported by a three-year funding agreement from an anonymous partner nation, provides specialized pediatric care to incarcerated youth through high-definition remote consultation platforms. By shifting from physical medical transfers to digital oversight, the center aims to eliminate the complex security protocols and transport overhead that often delay essential care in the region.
The rollout serves as a strategic expansion of the center’s technical infrastructure. The platform uses secure, encrypted video channels to connect facilities directly with pediatric specialists, allowing for routine checkups and acute care without the need for high-risk external movements.
In this blessed month of Ramadan, we are deeply honored to launch a partnership that truly embodies the values of empathy, equity, and service to humanity, said Shamim Nabuuma Kaliisa, founder and executive director of Chil Femtech Center.
Every child deserves access to quality healthcare, regardless of their circumstances or location, Kaliisa said. Thanks to our anonymous partner’s generous and selfless support, we can now bring expert pediatric care directly to these young people for the next three years, making a lasting difference in their lives.
For the Kampala-based healthtech firm, the project is a move to scale its B2B and institutional service model. The funding, provided as a charitable act of Sadaqah, covers all service fees, technical infrastructure and operational costs through 2029. This financial runway allows the center to refine its AI diagnostics and remote delivery tools in institutional settings.
The program will initially focus on priority centers in East Africa. Data and operational insights from this phase are expected to guide the company’s efforts to scale the model to additional government and NGO-managed facilities throughout the continent.
This expansion aligns with the broader mission of Chil Femtech Center to leverage innovative technology to democratize healthcare access for marginalized and underserved populations.
