Overview:
Uganda Baati chief executive George Arodi has left after nine years. HR head Amon Aruho will run the steel roofing firm until a successor is appointed.
The chief executive of Uganda Baati, one of the country’s biggest makers of steel roofing, has left the company after nine years in charge.
The firm said George Arodi’s tenure ended on 21 October.
Amon Aruho, the company’s head of human resources and administration, will oversee operations until a permanent replacement is found.
He will work with Dipti Mohanty, the regional chief executive, the company said.
Uganda Baati did not say why Arodi was leaving or when a successor would be named.
In a statement, the company thanked him for his “leadership and contribution” to the business and its parent firm, the Safal Group.
It said it remained committed to keeping the business running and would give further updates in due course.
Arodi’s departure comes nine months after the company marked his ninth year in the role.
He spent his whole career within the Safal Group. He began at Mabati Rolling Mills in Kenya as an exports officer, before serving as head of business and director at Ethiopian Steel between 2011 and 2017.
Under his leadership, the firm expanded its showroom network to more than 20 outlets nationwide, according to Pulse Uganda.
Aruho has stepped in before. In 2024, he was described as the company’s acting business head.
Uganda Baati was founded as Steel Works Company in Tororo in 1964.
It is part of the Safal Group, which has metal coating plants in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and South Africa.
