Felicite Nson becomes the first woman to be appointed Managing Director of Uganda Breweries Limited

KAMPALA, Uganda — Felicite Nson has been appointed the new managing director of Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL), a role that makes her the first woman to lead one of the country’s most well-known brands.

Nson takes over from Andrew Kilonzo, who has been named managing director of Kenya Breweries Limited.

Nson is a seasoned business leader with over 20 years of experience across Africa. Her most recent position was as managing director of Guinness Ghana Plc.

Under her leadership, the company became Diageo’s fastest-growing market on the continent, with a 36% year-on-year increase in revenue and an 83% rise in operating profit in the first half of the 2025 fiscal year. She has also held senior roles at MTN Cameroon and Coca-Cola West Africa.

“The Board is delighted to welcome Felicite to UBL,” said Jimmy D. Mugerwa, Chairman of the UBL Board. “Her appointment reflects our commitment to nurturing talent and strengthening leadership across our markets.”

Mugerwa also praised the outgoing managing director, Andrew Kilonzo, for his role in guiding the company through its post-pandemic recovery.

He expressed confidence that Nson will build on this legacy by expanding the company’s reach and promoting inclusion and diversity.

The board of directors officially welcomed Nson during a ceremonial bell handover, marking the start of her tenure at UBL.
