Stanbic Bank Uganda has announced a major leadership transition in its marketing division, with Daniel Ogong, the long-serving Head of Brand and Marketing, set to step down effective October 1, 2025.

Ogong, who has been at the helm of Stanbic’s marketing and brand strategy for eight years, is widely credited with transforming the bank’s identity into one of the most trusted and admired in the financial sector. His departure marks the end of a defining era for the lender’s communications and storytelling journey.

Chief Executive Mumba Kalifungwa lauded Ogong’s contribution, saying he “positioned Stanbic Bank as a brand espousing trust, innovation, and client focus,” while also setting new industry benchmarks.

Reflecting on his journey, Ogong described leading Stanbic’s brand and marketing strategy as one of the greatest privileges of his career. “I am proud of what we achieved together and confident the brand will continue to thrive in the years ahead,” he said.

During his tenure, Ogong spearheaded high-impact campaigns that connected Stanbic’s purpose with everyday Ugandans, investing heavily in local sport, music, and youth-focused initiatives. His leadership also nurtured young marketing talent within the bank, leaving behind a culture of creativity, mentorship, and purposeful storytelling.

His efforts brought industry-wide recognition, with Stanbic clinching multiple accolades under his watch. Personally, Ogong was honoured as Marketing Pioneer of the Year (2024) by Evolve Group Africa and Professional of the Year (2023) by the African Marketing Confederation.

Peers describe him as a mentor and visionary whose legacy extends beyond the bank to Uganda’s wider marketing industry.

Stanbic confirmed that Diana Kahunde, currently Brand & Marketing Manager for Personal and Private Banking, will assume the role of Interim Head of Brand & Marketing from October 1, 2025. Kahunde, credited with leading several successful retail campaigns, is expected to provide continuity and stability during the transition.

While Ogong departs, industry watchers expect his influence to continue shaping brand strategy and marketing leadership in Uganda for years to come.
