The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) releases a new report comparing mobile and fixed internet bundle prices. Find out how this transparency initiative helps Ugandan consumers.
KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has released its latest comparative price schedule for mobile and fixed internet bundles, aiming to boost transparency and empower consumers in the telecommunications sector.
The June report focuses on data bundles with daily, weekly, monthly, and non-expiry validity, with a particular emphasis on packages valid for one month or less, along with unlimited-speed fixed internet options. These categories, according to the UCC, are the most frequently purchased by Ugandan consumers.
“As part of our mandate to promote and protect the interests of consumers, the Uganda Communications Commission has published this comparative mobile and fixed price schedule to support transparency and improve consumer awareness,” said Nyombi Thembo, Executive Director of the UCC.
The publication, which will be updated regularly, is designed to help consumers make informed decisions based on value, affordability, and usage needs. It also encourages service providers to offer more competitive and consumer-friendly pricing.
The UCC noted that this comparative analysis will help clarify pricing structures, allowing consumers to compare options from different providers offering similar bundle types. The commission believes this transparency will foster healthy market competition and drive innovation in pricing models.
“The Commission continues to closely monitor price trends in the market and will update these comparisons periodically to ensure that consumers are kept informed, and providers are encouraged to offer competitive and fair pricing,” Thembo added.
This report is part of the UCC’s broader strategy to create a transparent, competitive, and consumer-centered communications ecosystem in Uganda. The commission reaffirmed its commitment to protecting users’ rights while working to ensure equitable access to quality internet services nationwide.
The full comparative price schedule, detailing breakdowns by provider, bundle size, price, and validity period, is available on the UCC website.
