UNBS Executive Director, Eng. James Kasigwa called for quality, excellence and timely delivery of the construction service.

The Uganda National Bureau of Standards has partnered with Roko Construction Company Limited to build the UNBS Engineering Materials Testing Laboratory.

During a meeting held today to handover the construction site to Roko Construction, the UNBS Executive Director, Eng. James Kasigwa called for quality, excellence and timely delivery of the construction service.

The Managing Director of Roko Construction, Mark Koehler, thanked UNBS for the opportunity and committed to delivering a quality service. The construction is expected to last one year and preparations for a ground-breaking ceremony are underway.

The Engineering Materials Testing Laboratory carries out various tests on different building and engineering materials to evaluate their compliance to standards, to safeguard the interest of both the consumer and producer as well as assure the quality of goods purchased.

Some of the materials and products tested by the laboratory include Cement and lime, Plain and corrugated iron sheets (galvanized and pre-painted), Reinforcement steel bars and structural steel, Burnt clay bricks, concrete blocks and pre-cast paving blocks, among others.
