Vivo Energy Uganda launches "Ebyakabi Nze Abirina #SityaMbeera" campaign to empower boda-boda riders.

KAMPALA – Vivo Energy Uganda has launched a significant new campaign aimed at boosting the confidence and operational efficiency of the country’s thousands of motorcycle riders.

The initiative, dubbed “Ebyakabi Nze Abirina #SityaMbeera” – a Luganda phrase roughly translating to “I have the challenges, I am not afraid” – highlights two of Shell’s premium products: Shell Advance motorcycle engine oil and Shell FuelSave.

The campaign specifically recognises the vital role played by Uganda’s “boda-boda” riders. Often referred to as “kapos” or “Lords of the streets,” these individuals are central to Uganda’s daily transport and commerce, frequently beginning their work before dawn.

Vivo Energy says its goal is to provide practical solutions tailored to the demanding conditions faced by these riders.

To engage with the campaign, motorcyclists who purchase Shell Advance can participate in a reward scheme. They simply need to text a unique code, found under the product’s seal, along with their motorcycle’s registration number, to 6688. Vivo Energy has announced plans to distribute a range of support items to over 10,000 riders, designed to assist their daily operations.

Shell Advance is promoted as a globally trusted lubricant, engineered to deliver comprehensive engine protection. It’s formulated with active cleansing agents, designed to perform even in harsh Ugandan conditions, including high temperatures, dusty roads, and dense traffic.

The product’s credibility is further cemented by its technical partnership with Italian sport bike manufacturer Ducati, a collaboration with notable success in MotoGP world championships.

In conjunction with Shell Advance, Shell FuelSave is presented as a means to enhance fuel efficiency. Utilising Dynaflex technology, it aims to optimise fuel consumption, allowing riders to cover greater distances and achieve better value for money, all without compromising their motorcycle’s performance.

Beyond product offerings, Vivo Energy is also providing direct support services to riders.

These include rapid oil change facilities for quick maintenance, an expanding network of Shell service stations across Uganda designed to be motorcycle-friendly, and a loyalty programme to reward frequent customers.

Rebecca Nassiwa, Brand Manager for Lubricants at Vivo Energy Uganda, underscored the company’s appreciation for the riders. “We understand the strength and determination of every rider who plays an important role in driving Uganda’s economy and connecting communities,” she stated. “Through this campaign, we aim to empower riders with the best Shell products and services, including dedicated service points, expert mechanics, and fuelling stations, to ensure they can undertake every journey with confidence.”

Francis Kayoki, Vivo Energy Uganda’s Lubricants Sales Manager, reiterated the protective benefits of Shell Advance. Geoffrey Elyanu, the company’s Supply and Distribution Manager, who represented the Managing Director at the launch event, spoke about Vivo Energy’s ongoing commitment to market growth.

He described “Ebyakabi Nze Abirina #SityaMbeera” as a pledge that, with Shell’s powerful product combination, riders possess the tools for sustained momentum, avoiding delays, and ensuring peace of mind on the road.
