FICO's transformation into Mirai General Insurance is now official. The rebranding reflects a global vision following the acquisition by Pride Global.
KAMPALA, Uganda – First Insurance Company Limited (FICO), a long-established insurer in Uganda, has rebranded as Mirai General Insurance, the company announced today. The change follows FICO’s acquisition by Pride Global, a Singapore-based multinational insurance and financial services group.
The new name, “Mirai,” which the company said is inspired by the Japanese word for “future” or “new ray of hope,” was unveiled at a launch event in Kampala. Executives stated the rebranding signifies a move toward global standards, innovation, and enhanced customer service.
Joseph Nsubuga, CEO of Mirai General Insurance, emphasized the company’s commitment to maintaining its focus on customers while adopting a broader, international perspective. He noted that the backing of Pride Global would enable the company to innovate and expand its offerings.
Mirai General Insurance assured customers that the transition would lead to improved service delivery, a wider range of products, and more efficient claims processing. The company also highlighted plans for a revamped digital platform, specialized insurance products, an expanded agency network, and a dedicated customer experience team.
The company, a member of the Uganda Insurers Association, said its core values of prioritizing customers, teamwork, and adaptability would remain under the new brand. The promise of “Service Beyond Expectation,” previously associated with FICO, will continue as a central tenet of Mirai General Insurance.
Uganda is the first country in the Pride Global group to adopt the Mirai name, with further transformations anticipated in other markets across Africa and Asia.
