Held in partnership with the Kampala Hash House Harriers (KH3), the annual event drew over 6,000 participants who braved the rain to tackle the challenging 5KM, 10KM, and 21KM races across Kampala's iconic seven hills.
KAMPALA, UGANDA – Absa Bank Uganda’s 2025 KH3 7 Hills Run has successfully raised more funds in support of girl child education, reinforcing the bank’s commitment to education and community development.
Held in partnership with the Kampala Hash House Harriers (KH3), the annual event drew over 6,000 participants who braved the rain to tackle the challenging 5KM, 10KM, and 21KM races across Kampala’s iconic seven hills.
The proceeds from the event will be dedicated to initiatives that promote access to quality education for girls, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to this year’s event,” said David Wandera, Interim Managing Director, Absa Bank Uganda.
Brian Adams Ategeka, one of the elite winners, praised the event, saying, “I have participated in many races, but the Absa KH3 7 Hills Run is truly special. It is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, especially knowing that we are running for a cause bigger than ourselves—giving young girls access to education.”
Since its inception in 2023, the Absa KH3 7 Hills Run has raised a total of UGX 500 million for girl child education, positively impacting over 10,000 girls across Uganda.
Wilson Asiimwe, Hash Master, Kampala Hash House Harriers, expressed gratitude to the participants and sponsors, saying, “We are grateful to the general public, running clubs, and companies that heeded our call to participate in this run for a good cause. The Run keeps growing in leaps and bounds year on year, and we look forward to making an even greater impact on the community this year.”
The event’s success was made possible through the support of 12 corporate sponsors, including Mighty Rides Limited, Hariss International, Prudential Uganda, and Kakira Sugar, among others.
In addition to promoting education, the event also emphasized environmental sustainability, with DHL Uganda partnering to ensure responsible waste management and recycling of plastic waste.
