dfcu Bank appoints Hope Lorna Nakhayenze as its new Chief Risk Officer, bringing 17 years of experience to strengthen the bank's risk management practices

KAMPALA, Uganda — dfcu Bank has appointed Hope Lorna Nakhayenze as its new chief risk officer, effective March 1.

Nakhayenze will oversee risk management for the bank, developing and implementing a risk management framework to measure, report and control financial and non-financial risks.

She brings 17 years of experience in risk management, internal controls and compliance to the role. Nakhayenze previously worked at Ecobank Uganda Limited, I&M Bank (Uganda) Limited, Stanbic Bank, Barclays Bank, Hima Cement and AH Consulting.

Nakhayenze is a Fellow Chartered Certified Accountant and a Treasurer with the Association of Corporate Treasurers. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Makerere University.

The appointment comes as Uganda’s banking industry faces increased scrutiny over risk management and governance. The Bank of Uganda has pushed for banks to strengthen their risk management capabilities.

dfcu Bank said Nakhayenze’s leadership will help strengthen its risk management practices in line with global best practices.
