Uganda and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in the energy and transport sectors
Kampala, Uganda – Uganda and Egypt have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations, following high-level talks between officials from both countries.
A delegation from the Egyptian embassy in Uganda, led by Ambassador Monzer Selim, met with Ugandan officials, including Minister of State for International Affairs, Henry Okello Oryem.
The discussions, held at the Ugandan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, focused on bolstering cooperation in key sectors such as trade, investment, water, health, infrastructure, and political cooperation.
Egypt’s Ambassador to Uganda, Monzer Selim, highlighted the historical ties between the two nations, emphasizing the mutual respect and shared interests that have evolved over decades.
“Egypt has always been a steadfast partner to Uganda, providing valuable support in critical sectors such as energy, food security, and water management,” Ambassador Selim said.
Uganda’s Minister of State for International Affairs, Mr. Oryem, expressed his country’s gratitude for Egypt’s ongoing support and partnership.
“Egypt’s commitment to enhancing Uganda’s development agenda, particularly in areas such as energy, water, and food security, is truly commendable,” Minister Okello said.
The bilateral talks also explored opportunities for deepening trade and investment relations, with a focus on sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and water development projects.
Both sides acknowledged the vast potential for expanding bilateral trade and proposed implementing policies to create a more conducive environment for investment.
In addition to economic cooperation, the discussions touched on enhancing people-to-people interactions through capacity-building exchanges, technical training, and knowledge-sharing in fields such as medicine, agriculture, and energy security.
The talks also reaffirmed the commitment of both countries to working together to address shared regional challenges, such as regional security and promoting peace and stability across Africa.
