The collaboration is part of the Tax Academy’s broader effort to build a tax-literate generation. “The foundation of a tax-conscious society begins with education,” remarked Dr. Grace K. Baguma, Director of NCDC, as she welcomed the URA delegation. She applauded URA’s commitment to advancing Uganda’s tax education agenda and emphasized the importance of nurturing positive attitudes toward taxes from an early age.
During the meeting, Mr. Ambrose Sansa, a senior economist and head of planning at NCDC, highlighted the NCDC’s experience in supporting entities with curriculum development. He revealed that they have done the same for the Office of the Auditor General by developing a three-tier auditing curriculum for them. At the end of the engagement, it was resolved that working committees shall be composed between the TAC and NCDC to iron out modalities of the MoU spelling out the framework for collaboration.
Beyond NCDC, the Tax Academy engaged the College of Business and Management Sciences team led by the principal, Prof. Edward Bbaale. The meeting sought to explore areas of collaboration, including accreditation support, curriculum and content development in taxation, trainer certification, and experiential knowledge sharing, among others. The team also met Dr. Kasozi Mulindwa, the Director of Programs and Student Affairs at the Uganda Management Institute (UMI), where they delved into matters relating to program management and examination administration. By forging partnerships with esteemed institutions like NCDC, CoBAMS, and UMI.
