With Safcool, Uganda Baati is set to revolutionize the cold storage industry, enabling businesses to maintain optimal storage conditions, reduce losses, and enhance food security
KAMPALA, UGANDA – Uganda Baati, a member of the Safal Group, has unveiled a revolutionary cold room storage solution, Safcool, designed to transform the cold chain infrastructure in Africa.
The innovative solution was showcased at the 5th Bi-Annual Private Sector CEO Forum retreat held at Serena Hotel, Kampala on September 13-14, 2024. The event, officiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, brought together top business leaders and policymakers to discuss Afro-industrialization and the future of Uganda’s private sector.
Safcool is specifically designed to address the challenges of unreliable power supply and extreme weather conditions prevalent in Africa. Its hybrid solar technology ensures continuous and reliable cooling, making it a game-changer in reducing post-harvest losses and ensuring food security.
According to Apoorva Hemantha, Head of Steel Building Solutions at Uganda Baati, the Safcool’s innovative technology ensures that businesses can store products efficiently, even in remote areas. “This is a significant step towards supporting Uganda’s economic development goals,” he said.
The Safcool solution features hybrid solar technology for reliable cooling, energy-efficient refrigeration units suitable for tropical conditions, and a modular design that allows for customized storage solutions.
Uganda Baati’s introduction of Safcool is poised to support the country’s development agenda, aligned with the National Development Plan III (NDP III) and sectoral visions.
