Vivo Energy Uganda, the marketer and distributor of Shell-branded fuels and lubricants in Uganda, has assured customers of its commitment to maintaining the quality of its fuel products despite the transition to a new fuel supplier, Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC).

Speaking during a guided tour of Vivo Energy’s facilities in Kampala, Geoffrey Elyanu, the Supply and Distribution Manager, explained that the company goes through a rigorous process to ensure the quality of its fuel products.

He noted that while all fuel suppliers receive the same base products, Vivo Energy differentiates its petrol and diesel products through additives and a strict quality control process.

The company’s fuel products come from Mombasa, Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, and Busia, with additional products coming from Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Vivo Energy has storage terminals in Mombasa, Nairobi, and throughout its supply chain in Uganda, where quality and quantity control measures are strictly enforced.

Elyanu revealed that the company will soon start sourcing 100% of its fuel products from UNOC, with the exception of specialized products like V-Power, engine oil, and lubricants, which will continue to be imported from Mombasa.

The tour also included a visit to Vivo Energy’s state-of-the-art laboratory, where fuel products are tested for quality and purity.

Dinah Nalubega, a lab technician, explained that the company’s fuel products are tested daily for contamination, density, and distillation to ensure they meet the company’s quality standards.

Vivo Energy’s fuel products are unique in the market due to the additives recommended by Shell, which provide extra benefits to customers.

The company also has a mobile quality van that monitors Shell-branded stations daily to ensure quality products are served to customers.The tour also included a visit to Vivo Energy’s LPG section, where gas cylinders are checked and refilled to ensure quality and safety for customers.
