Minister of State for General Duties Henry Musasizi has called upon Internal Auditors to shift from retrospective audit/compliance in order to remain relevant and also be able to provide more value to the organizations they serve.

He said although retrospective auditing has an important role of ensuring that controls are working, some of the biggest threats to organizations are those never seen before or complicated to manage.

Musasizi made the remarks on Thursday while officiating at the Local Government Internal Auditors Association annual general meeting, 2023 at Colline Hotel, Mukono.

He said this association and the profession must enhance and promote values like Integrity, courage, service excellence and team work

“Government of Uganda commits to continue supporting Internal Audit function in Central and Local governments,” said the Minister.

To keep pace with today’s increasingly complicated governance, risk management and controls  landscape, Musasizi said progressive internal audit functions are beginning to use technology to revolutionize the way that audits are conducted, adding that government is investing heavily in digitisation.
