 The host of the event, Ms Lulama Xingwana, the South African High Commissioner to Uganda, said Ms Thozama’s steller performance at the two plants has reinforced the good will and friendship that South Africa has with Uganda.

On Friday July 14, the Forum for South African Businesses in Uganda (FOSABU) held a farewell dinner in honour of Ms Thozama Gangi, the outgoing Eskom Uganda Managing Director who steered the 20-year concession of operation and maintenance of Nalubaale and Kiira power plants to a successful conclusion. The event took place at Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

 The host of the event, Ms Lulama Xingwana, the South African High Commissioner to Uganda, said Ms Thozama’s steller performance at the two plants has reinforced the good will and friendship that South Africa has with Uganda.

The High Commissioner particularly thanked Ms Thozama for skilling young Ugandans who worked with her at the two plants to carry on the task even as Eskom exits the stage.

“Thozama has diligently and successfully performed her task in the  eight years of tour of duty in Uganda as Eskom Uganda Managing Director. South Africa  is proud of you for the job well done and particularly for carryong both the South African and Ugandan flags so high. You did a remarkable job in skilling young Ugandan Engineers who will ably carry on even as Eskom exits,” she said.

“Even as you return back home in South Africa,  be  assured that the two countries; Uganda and SA are proud of the work you have done in managing  the concession very well and leaving a lasting legacy. Indeed The continent looks forward to more contribution from you,” the High Commisssioner said.
