The housing facility that was affected by stormy weather in 2019 has been renovated as part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the Tilenga Project area.

TotalEnergies EP Uganda has handed over a revamped 12-Unit housing block at Anaka General Hospital to Nwoya district. It is the only referral hospital in Nwoya District serving a population of nearly 300,000 people including referrals from 27 health centers in the District.

The housing facility that was affected by stormy weather in 2019 has been renovated as part of the Company’s Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives in the Tilenga Project area.

The upgraded facility will contribute towards the improvement of living conditions for over 200 health workers and subsequent service delivery within the project host communities in Nwoya District. The housing project refurbishment included installation and connection to 3,000-litre water tank, improved sanitation facilities (water sinks and toilets), electrical and mechanical installations as well as a national grid electricity connection.

Speaking at the handover and commissioning event on Monday, Joy Muballe, Social Performance Director TotalEnergies EP Uganda said, “As part of our CSR pillars aimed at ensuring peoples’ wellbeing and creating shared value, the Company committed funds towards the implementation of this housing project for our community’s essential workers. The housing facility will improve accessibility to the workplace and improved living conditions for the hospitals’ health personnel”.

“This project has been undertaken in close partnership with Nwoya District Local Government and embodies our value of “Standing Together” with the communities surrounding our areas of operations, not just in Uganda but across the world where we are present,” she added.

As part of the sustainability strategy, the Nwoya District local government will continue to provide support to the maintenance and repairs of the housing block following the handover and commissioning.

The handover was presided over by Hon. Tony Awan, Nwoya Conty Member of Parliament as the Guest of Honour and was attended by representatives from the District Local Government, the Nwoya Chief Administrative Officer, Mr. Atama Gabriel Richard, LC5 Chairman Buliisa District, Mr. Orach Emmanuel, Resident District Commissioner Nwoya District, Christopher Omara and Anaka Hospital Superintendent, Dr. among others.
