Uganda has deployed Mr. Latim Nyeko as a commercial attaché to Uganda’s Mission in Ankara Turkey.
During the briefing meeting with Ambassador Nusura Tiperu on Monday, 15 August 2022, officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs discussed the need for a positive Trade balance between the two countries among others.

The major agricultural products that Uganda can take advantage while trading with Turkey include cotton, sunflower seeds or cotton oil, soya beans whether or not broken, among others.
This comes as investors from Turkey embark on a campaign to link up with the Uganda business community to re-align their interests and opportunities. According to Emek Eker Uganda’s Honorary Consul to Antalya, Turkey has many unexploited opportunities that can be beneficial to Uganda of paired up to local business communities.
They are now organizing a two-day World cooperation industries forum in Ankara Turkey on 14th to 15th of October to bring businessmen and investors from different countries closer.
The trade volume between Uganda and Turkey increased from USD 6.48m in FY 2016/2017 to USD 129m by end of FY 2018/2019. Due to Covid pandemic, the export value to Turkey significantly reduced to USD 24million in FY 2020/2021.
The Uganda-Turkey Investment Summit 2022 was held in May.
