Centenary Technology Services (Cente-Tech), a technology company of Centenary Group, and the United Nations Capital Development Fund (UNCDF) have announced a strategic partnership to improve farmers’ livelihoods by digitalizing agribusinesses through a single digital agri-based marketplace.
These will implement an online platform ‘E-farmer Hub’ designed to provide access to digital services for farmers.
Speaking at the function in Kampala on Wednesday, 10 August 2022, Dr Aminah Zawedde, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of ICT and National Guidance, said collaboration means that the aggregated demand that Cente-Tech unlocks via the vast network of schools, hospitals, markets, parishes and universities is an opportunity for driving meaningful inclusion across Uganda.

“My excitement is derived from the appreciation of the central role agriculture plays in our economy. The agriculture sector employs over 70% of our population, contributes about 25% of our National GDP. That is how important the sector is,” she said.
Peter Kahiigi, the Chief Technology Officer at CenteTech, said over the next two years, the two organizations will implement a single platform named the ‘E-farmer Hub’ as a public good, designed to provide access to digital services for famers in their day-to-day lives.
