The Insurance Regulatory Authority and partners will starting March 7, 2022, hold the inaugural Insurance Week, which is centred on bringing insurance information closer to the people.
Alhaj Kaddunabbi Lubega, the Chief Executive Officer of IRA, said the Insurance Week, which will run from March 7-March 11 is intended to enable customers make informed buying decisions and increase the uptake of insurance services.
“We are optimistic that the various activities held during the Insurance Week will go a long way to reduce the existing information gap and empower the public to make more informed decisions as far as Risk Management is concerned,” Kaddunabbi said at the launch of the week on Thursday.
Kaddunabbi noted that for any country and its people to progress, insurance must be given priority to safeguard people’s wealth and health.

“In a bid to make insurance more accessible we have gone an extra mile to make sure that we simplify all insurance related terms and policies for the average everyday Ugandan,” he said.
He stressed that the Insurance Week will see activities like Radio and television talk shows undertaken on various topics to educate the public on what entails in these topics in the insurance world.
Areas that will be explained during the insurance week include Workers Compensation, Medical Insurance, Life Insurance, Motor Insurance, Agriculture Insurance, the Insurance claim process, also the rights and obligations of insurers and insuring public under insurance contracts.
