Airtel Mobile Commerce Uganda Limited, the provider of affordable and secure Airtel money platform, has partnered with Housing Finance Bank and digital lending platform provider YABX to enable Airtel Money customers access quick loans when they do not have sufficient funds.

Speaking at the function in Kampala on Monday, 07 February 2022, Mr Michael Mugabi, the managing director of Housing Finance Uganda, said the partnership is aligned to both Airtel and Housing Finance Bank’s strategy of enhancing financial and digital inclusion through the provision of simple secure and easy to use financial services products that give the best value to customers.

“We are excited about the value added services we are bringing on board in partnership with Airtel and YABX. This is a demonstration of our commitment to continuously innovate not only for our account holders but also our customers,” Mr Mugabi said.

“We look forward to build on our partnership with HFB and YABX to include as many people into the financial ecosystem and transform their lives”. Airtel money customers can dial *185*7*10# to register for the service,” he added.

Ms Peace Kabunga, the executive director of Housing Finance Bank (HFB), said: “As HFB, we are excited to drive financial independence, and this product that we are launching today will provide a platform for financial inclusion across the entire country, as we tap from the diverse customer base provided by Airtel Money.”

Ms Eunice Gatama, YABX Director Africa Business, welcomed the partnership, saying it will enhance financial inclusion.

“YABX is excited to be working with Airtel Uganda and HFB to deliver QuickLoan. Using YABX, a fintech venture in digital lending technology, the partnership seeks to enhance digital credit profiling of customers to allow the unbanked population access credit,” she said.

This is collaborative lending, YABX is providing the tech for this product, HFB is the lending body to  Airtel customers. This service is fully digital, so no need for paperwork, credit ratings,”- Ms Gatama added.
