Two Ugandans have been named among 35 most influential women in technology in Africa this year.
Ms Rowena Turinawe, the Business Transformation Manager at National Information Technology Authority Uganda (NITA-U), and Ms Vivian Dambya, the Director Technical Services at the same government agency, were listed in CIO AFRICA.
CIO AFRICA is the leading magazine for the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry in Africa, published by African eDevelopment Resource Centre in conjunction with the International Data Group (IDG), a world-renowned publisher of legendary brands.
The Ministry of ICT described the recognition of Ms Turinawe and Ms Ddambya as a testament of the bright future for Uganda’s Women & Girls in Tech.
“Hearty Congratulations to @VivianDdambya & @r5turi on making it to @CIO_Africa‘s 35 Most Influential Women In Tech, Africa, list. This is a testament of the bright future for Uganda’s Women & Girls in Tech,” the ministry tweeted on Friday.
The CIO Africa publication highlights ICT investment opportunities, innovation, intellectual property and trends of the converging technologies. Through such authoritative information, the investors get business leads and end-users make informed choices.
Ms Turinawe holds the following certifications; COBIT 5, Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL®), Project Management Professional (PMP®) and Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA).
Ms Turinawe also believes that, ‘When digital transformation is done right, it’s like a caterpillar turning into a butterfly, but when done wrong, all you have is a really fast caterpillar.’
Ms Ddambya has more than 10 years of experience in taking Government services online.
At NITA-U, she is responsible for providing technical support and guidance on all matters related to ICT infrastructure, systems and services within Government.
She is a Certified Information Security Systems Professional (CISSP), Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA), a Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert- Private Cloud (MCSE). She holds a Bachelor of Computer Applications and a Masters in Management of Information Systems.
