Brahim Muwanga Kibirige, commonly known as BMK, the proprietor of Hotel Africana, has died.
BMK, 67, died on Friday morning from a hospital in Nairobi where he has been admitted for cancer treatment.
A close family member, Eng Mubarak Ngobya, confirmed the death, adding that ‘the family is making arrangements to have the entrepreneur’s body transported from Nairobi to his ancestral village in Nkoowe, Wakiso District in central Uganda.
Several people took to social media to pay tributes.
“This icon of Uganda indigenous enterprise has left us a legacy. My condolences go to his family, his relatives and friends his business partners and the people of Uganda. Our country has lost a giant,” Andrew Mwenda, a journalist, said.
“Rest in peace, Hajji Bulaimu Muwanga Kibirige, truly you have been a wonderful soul and I pray that the Almighty Allah rewards you with Jannah,” Hassan Badru Zziwa, a journalist, added.
