The Uganda Airlines has been granted the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC) to operate its two A330-800 neo aircraft.
This was after the two airbuses underwent successful test flights as well as meeting other requirements.
AOC has officially been handed over to Uganda Airlines by the State minister for Works and Transport Fred Byamukama on Monday, 23 August 2021.
The AOC, which was granted by the regulator Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, means the airline can now use the two A330’s for commercial purposes.
The Acting Director General of Uganda Civil Aviation Authority, Mr Fred Bamwesigye, applauded the Uganda Airlines team on the successful completion of process of adding the airbus onto the AOC.
According to Uganda Airlines, the two airbuses are set for long haul flights to London, Mumbai and Dubai, among other areas.
Any individual, organisation or company that wishes to operate an aircraft for the purpose of commercial air transport must, by law, obtain an Air Operator Certificate (AOC).
This requires the operator to have personnel, assets and system in place to ensure the safety of its employees and the general public.
The airline currently flies to 9 destinations in 6 countries. These are Nairobi, Mombasa, Bujumbura, Zanzibar, Dar-es-salaam, Kilimanjaro, Kinshasa, Juba
