Posta Uganda has partnered with Eurogiro, a money transfer platform, to offer remittance services like mobile money transfers, agency banking and international money transfers.

Post Uganda in a statement issued on August 12, 2021, said under the platform, Ugandans can send and receive money from all corners of the world.

“When you need convenient ways to send money to your loved one’s back home or abroad, Eurogiro Financial supermarket is here to help. With money transfer services, you can send money to over 200 countries and territories,” Posta Uganda said.

Jessica Uwera Sengooba, the manager corporate and international relations at Posta Uganda said they are the first postal network in Africa that is currently connected to Eurogiro’s innovative new payment services.

“It is a moment of satisfaction and celebration of the hard work to enable Posta Uganda as the first Postal Network in Africa that is currently connected to Eurogiro’s innovative new payment services, among which is PostalPay, the Post Office’s digital money transfer service,” she said.

Kim Fuglsang Kristoffersen, the CEO of Eurogiro, said the partnership will bring them even more opportunities.

“I am very pleased that Posta Uganda has joined the Eurogiro Financial Supermarket platform and PostalPay a digital solution enabling the sending of money digitally from the EU and the UK to Uganda. Uganda is one of the top remittances receiving countries in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA).  I am sure that our partnership can bring us even more opportunities,” he said.

Posta Uganda said the system is faster, reliable, convenient and safer.

“Migrant workers, friends and loved ones send your paychecks home to your families using Eurogiro Financial supermarket of Posta Uganda. It’s a simple transaction that is not only convenient but fast,” Posta Uganda said.

“Wives, husbands, parents, and children don’t have to wait weeks, or even months for their loved ones to return. You can have near instant access to the money you need to buy food, pay bills, and get medical care through our postal offices near you,” they added.

Eurogiro was founded in 1993 by twelve European postal organizations, as a postal payment co-operative.

Over the past 27 years, Eurogiro has consciously evolved into a global payment enabled infrastructure organization. Today more than 50 esteemed organizations are actively using the platform.

Posta Uganda provides mail, e-commerce parcels, express, courier, other retail and ICT services. Posta Uganda was established in 1998 after separation from the Uganda Posts and Telecommunications.
