Mr Paul Muganwa, the Stanbic Bank Head Corporate and Investment Banking, said they have been a major corporate sponsor of the annual MTN marathon since 2014.
Stanbic Bank has handed over Shs170 million in cash support towards this year’s edition of MTN Marathon.
This year’s run, dubbed ‘run for babies,’ will take place on Sunday November 20, 2022.
While handing over the cash in Kampala on Wednesday, 09 November 2022, Mr Paul Muganwa, the Stanbic Bank Head Corporate and Investment Banking, said they have been a major corporate sponsor of the annual MTN marathon since 2014.
“Stanbic Bank has been supporting the marathon for the last 8 years. ‘Run for Babies’ is particularly close to our hearts as Stanbic. Each year, we dedicate a portion of our CSI budget to support maternal and neonatal health. Therefore, we are pleased to back this year’s MTN Marathon 2022 with UGX 170 Million,” Muganwa said.
MTN Chief Marketing Officer Somdev Sen welcomed Stanbic Bank’s sponsorship.

This comes days after Huawei also supported the 2022 edition of the MTN Kampala Marathon with Shs280 million. This is the 9th year that Huawei is sponsoring the Marathon.
The 2022 edition of the MTN Kampala Marathon will be held on Sunday 20th November at the Kololo independence grounds under the theme ‘Run for babies.’ Runners will participate in the full marathon (42Km), half marathon (21Km), the 10Km race, and the 5Km race.
Since its inception in 2004, the MTN Marathon has nurtured the spirit of charity by connecting and uniting both individuals and corporate companies for causes that make a difference in the lives of numerous communities across the country.
At least 247,000 individuals have participated in the MTN Kampala Marathon since it was first run in 2004 and over the years, multiple companies have also partnered with MTN to achieve a common goal of giving back to the community.
Subsequently, the MTN Kampala Marathon has earned its place as the biggest charity-inspired marathon, giving both individuals and corporate companies a platform to give back to the community.
