PZ Cussons has trained Kampala salon owners and stylists on its rebranded Venus Haircare range, which the company says was built on consumer research.

KAMPALA – PZ Cussons has trained salon owners and stylists in Kampala on its rebranded Venus Haircare range, as the company relaunches the brand in Uganda.

The training was held at Hotel La Grande on Wednesday. Through live demonstrations and product sessions, stylists learned how to use and recommend the range for the hair types and styles they handle daily, including braids and relaxed, natural and protective styles.

The sessions covered four products: the Moisture Seal 5-in-1 Strengthening Oil Blend, for moisture retention and strength; the Anti-Dandruff 2-in-1 Scalp Care, for scalp health; the Finishing Mousse, for definition and polish; and the Braid Spray, for keeping braided and protective styles fresh for longer.

Cynthia Abuti, haircare brand manager at PZ Cussons, said the company targeted stylists because they were the people consumers trusted most for advice on their hair.

“We wanted them to experience the range first-hand, ask questions and leave confident to recommend Venus to their clients. This workshop is about working with them, not just talking at them,” she said.

The company said most hair care decisions are made in salons, where clients rely on their stylists for advice on which products to use and how to care for their hair between visits.

The training follows a rebrand of Venus that PZ Cussons said was developed from research with consumers and hair care professionals.

Phina Baddie, beauty and haircare specialist at PZ Cussons, said the new range was based on what customers and stylists had asked for.

“The Venus rebrand did not start in a boardroom. It started with research,” she said. “We listened to consumers and stylists about what they need from their hair care, and the refreshed Venus is our response to what people asked for.”

PZ Cussons said salons are a significant source of livelihood, particularly for women and young entrepreneurs. It said equipping stylists with product knowledge supports better service for clients and stronger businesses for salon owners.

At the workshop, the company also confirmed Growwell Uganda Limited as the official distributor of PZ Cussons brands in Uganda. It said the change is expected to improve the availability of Venus and its other products for salons, retailers and consumers across the country.

The company said it plans further activations with salon professionals and consumers in the coming weeks.

Venus has been on the East African market for more than 20 years and sells hair and skin care products aimed at African women.
