JINJA, Uganda — PostBank Uganda showcased its innovative financial solutions for farmers at the 31st National Agricultural Show, which drew farmers and agri-entrepreneurs from across the country and region.
The bank’s Supervisor of Agriculture and Partnerships, Julius Akais, delivered a presentation to 15 rural women group leaders from Uganda and 14 women delegates from Kenya and Zambia. Akais guided the participants on the bank’s specialized agricultural products, including the Large-Scale Commercial Farmers Scheme and Grow Loans.
The presentation covered topics such as group lending models, input financing, and mobile banking access. Akais emphasized PostBank’s commitment to supporting rural communities, women-led farming groups, and informal farmer cooperatives.
“PostBank continues to play a key role as a financing partner in Uganda’s agricultural transformation,” Akais said. “Our purpose is to foster prosperity for Ugandans, and we’ve designed financing solutions to support different sectors, including agriculture, which employs almost 60% of Uganda’s population.”
The National Agricultural Show, themed “Technological Innovations Driving Agricultural Wealth,” ran from June 27 to July 5. PostBank’s participation aligns with its commitment to enhancing financial inclusion in the agricultural sector.
The bank was recently recognized at the Bank of Uganda’s Agriculture Credit Facility and Small Business Recovery Fund Awards, winning five awards and 11 certificates for its innovative approach to agricultural lending.
