KAMPALA, Uganda — Uganda Breweries Limited (UBL) has been honored with the prestigious Prestige Trophy from Monde Selection, recognizing its consistent production of internationally acclaimed, high-quality brands over 25 years. The award comes as the company approaches its 80th anniversary of brewing excellence.
The award ceremony took place recently in Rome, Italy. This global recognition highlights UBL’s unwavering commitment to delivering superior quality products. The Prestige Trophy is granted to companies that have consistently received Grand Gold, Gold, Silver, or Bronze awards over time.
Monde Selection, also known as the International Quality Institute, is headquartered in Brussels, Belgium. Since 1961, this independent organization has assessed consumer products, including food, beverages, and cosmetics, awarding quality labels based on sensory analysis, organoleptic criteria, and compliance with international standards.
“This award validates our manufacturing excellence, producing brands that are not only traded locally, but also regionally and globally,” said Andrew Kilonzo, Uganda Breweries Managing Director, in response to the accolade.
UBL’s dedication to quality is deeply embedded in its “Pioneering Grain to Glass Sustainability” initiative. This program ensures that every stage of the production process, from sourcing raw materials to the final product on the shelf, upholds the highest standards. The initiative also fosters partnerships with local farmers, guarantees ingredient traceability, and continuously improves production systems to meet international benchmarks.
Monde Selection’s Quality Awards serve as a reliable assurance of quality for buyers worldwide. Notably, several Uganda Breweries brands, such as Uganda Waragi, have consistently earned Gold awards, underscoring their long-standing recognition for excellence.
