Dr. Frances Philomena Namatovu, a pharmacist with 11+ years in the industry, becomes the new executive director of Uganda's Quality Chemical Industries Ltd.
Quality Chemical Industries Ltd. announced the appointment of Dr. Frances Philomena Namatovu as its executive director, effective April 16, 2025.
Namatovu, a pharmacist with more than 11 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, previously served as the Head of Regulatory Affairs and Pharmacovigilance at Quality Chemical Industries Ltd. In that role, she was responsible for regulatory compliance, drug safety, and strategic business development. She has also been the company’s Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance since 2020.
The company noted that Namatovu has held leadership roles at Quality Chemical Industries Ltd., guiding the company through regulatory and business challenges in the East African Community, the Southern African Development Community, the Economic Community of West African States, and with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Namatovu holds a Master of Science Degree in Drug Development with Biobusiness from Aberdeen University in Scotland and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Manipal University in Karnataka, India. She is a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Uganda.
Emmanuel Katongole, chairman and co-founder of Quality Chemical Industries Ltd., said the board welcomes Namatovu and is confident she will contribute to the company’s growth and success.
