KAMPALA, Uganda — Airtel Uganda has expanded its network to rural Kabale, commissioning five new network sites to bolster its connectivity in the region.
The new sites, located in areas including Kyetobokeire, Kekuubo, Nyabushabi, Rwakabara, Ahakempu – Katuna road, Irimbo – Katuna Road, Mwanjari, and Kigongi, are part of Airtel’s ongoing efforts to enhance coverage and provide seamless digital experiences for customers in rural Uganda.
Airtel Uganda Sales Director Wongani Muthayi said the new sites will improve coverage, call clarity and internet speeds for customers in the area.
“Our goal is to ensure that every Ugandan has access to reliable and affordable connectivity, regardless of their location,” Muthayi said.
“We understand that rural communities have unique connectivity needs, and we are committed to addressing these needs through our network expansion efforts. With these new sites, we are bridging the digital divide and empowering rural communities to participate in the digital economy,” Muthayi added.
Kabale Municipality Deputy Mayor Kedress Mutabazi praised Airtel Uganda for expanding its network to support the region’s growing economy.
“I thank Airtel Uganda for thinking about the people of Kabale and expanding the network to support the growing economic activity. We have known Airtel for being affordable, but the network was a challenge. For finally thinking about this and fixing it, I applaud you,” Mutabazi said.
The network expansion is expected to directly benefit local businesses, students, farmers and families by enabling them to stay connected and leverage digital opportunities to improve their livelihoods. Airtel Uganda has invested in a strong network infrastructure, including 96 Airtel Money branches, 3,400 agents and two service centers.
Muthayi said Airtel Uganda remains committed to supporting national development through continued investment in network infrastructure across Uganda.
“We are grateful to the people of Kabale for their trust in Airtel Uganda. This investment is part of our broader strategy to enhance connectivity across Uganda, ensuring that no one is left behind in the digital revolution,” Muthayi said.
The expansion of Airtel’s network to rural Kabale is part of the company’s efforts to achieve 100% network coverage across Uganda.
With this expansion, Airtel Uganda reinforces its position as a leading telecommunications provider in Uganda, committed to providing reliable, affordable and innovative connectivity solutions to customers across the country.
