Equity Bank Uganda appoints Gift Shoko as new Managing Director, bringing over 26 years of banking experience to drive growth and innovation.
Kampala, Uganda – Equity Bank Uganda has announced the appointment of Gift Shoko as its new Managing Director, subject to regulatory approval.
Mr Shoko, who previously served as the bank’s Executive Director, brings over 26 years of experience in the banking industry to his new role.
His background includes commercial multi-regional banking and leadership across Southern and Eastern Africa. He has held various senior positions, including Group Chief Operating Officer and Group Chief Executive Officer at Trust Holdings Limited in Zimbabwe.
Mr Shoko has also served as the Chief Executive Officer of Commercial Bank of Africa in Tanzania and as the NCBA Group Director for Regional Business, overseeing banking subsidiaries in East Africa.
The Board of Directors at Equity Bank Uganda said Mr Shoko’s wealth of experience and proven track record of leadership made him the ideal candidate for the role.
“We are confident that under Mr Shoko’s leadership, Equity Bank Uganda will strengthen its commitment to enhancing customer experience and expanding our reach in Uganda,” said Mark Ocitti, Board Chairman.
Mr Shoko’s appointment follows the resignation of Anthony Kituuka as Managing Director of Equity Bank Uganda.
