The traders recognized URA Commissioner General John Musinguzi with the Outstanding Leader of the Year- Government Agency award whereas URA scooped Government Agency of the year.
In his speech to the awardees, the Chairperson Kampala City Capital Traders Association Dr. Thaddeus Musoke said that URA won the award of Government Agency of the year- Uganda Revenue Authority due to its proactiveness in engaging traders.
From the start of this FY, URA has stationed its tax education staff in the central business district. This has greatly impacted our (traders) journey to compliance.
“And for John Musinguzi the Commissioner General URA, traders are so appreciative of the fact that you have a listening ear. Whether you know a taxpayer or not, you gladly listen. I cannot count the number of times we have engaged you as traders and had our problems solved. You really came as a blessing,” Dr. Thaddeus Musoke said.
Receiving the awards, Musinguzi appreciated the cordial relationship between URA and the traders.
“I want to thank the members and management of KACITA who thought us worthy of receiving two awards tonight. Both as the best government agency and also me the Commissioner General as the best government agency leader of the year. When I think of it, I don’t feel worthy of the awards but, what God has made you to do is to encourage us to do better. As the URA team, we are deeply humbled that someone from outside is acknowledging that there is an effort to improve the relationship between the taxman and the taxpayer, ” Musinguzi noted.
KACITA Quality Awards are annual awards given to People, Agencies and Companies that greatly impact businesses during a specific year.
