Uganda’s tallest skyscraper, the 54-story Diamond Tower, aims to tackle Kampala’s rising population density with 300 serviced apartments and luxury amenities.
KAMPALA, Uganda — Angiletti Design Studio has announced the design for the Diamond Tower, a 54-story mixed-use skyscraper proposed for the Kololo neighborhood that would become the tallest building in Uganda.
The 220-meter structure is scheduled to begin construction in 2026 at the junction of Lugogo Bypass and Nviri Lane. The studio confirmed that project plans have already been submitted to the National Environmental Management Authority and the Kampala Capital City Authority for approval.
The development is designed with an abstract diamond-shaped floor plan to match the geometry of the site. It will include 300 serviced apartments, 203 hotel rooms, eight penthouses and a dedicated health club floor featuring a gymnasium and swimming pool. The tower also includes two basement levels for parking and several conference facilities.
Project manager Adam Jumba said the scale of the tower is a strategic response to Kampala’s urban density. With the city’s population estimated at 4.5 million, Jumba noted that the project is intended to demonstrate a housing typology that addresses land scarcity and limits the expansion of informal settlements.
The building will feature high-performance multilayer glazing to block 99 percent of UV rays, providing thermal insulation for occupants. Once completed, the tower is expected to serve as a primary landmark in the Kampala skyline.
