The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) project has been honoured with the CSR Programme of the Year (Licensee Category) award at the 6th PAU National Content Awards 2025, recognizing its strong social performance and commitment to delivering long-term value for communities in Uganda and Tanzania.

The award was presented during the 6th Annual National Content Conference, held under the theme “Beyond the Drill: Cultivating a Legacy of Empowered Nationals and Enterprises in Uganda’s Oil Age.” It underscores EACOP’s ongoing investments in people, community development, and regional partnerships aimed at building local capacities as the project advances.

At the conference, Deputy Managing Director John Bosco Habumugisha participated in the panel session “Uganda’s Oil and Gas Sector: Progress, Potential, and Pathways for National Participation,” providing an update on the pipeline’s progress. He confirmed that the project is now 74% complete, marking a major milestone toward its full delivery.

The event attracted key national stakeholders, including Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego, Governor of the Bank of Uganda; Hon. Sidronius Okaasai Opolot, Minister of State for Energy; and Ernest Rubondo, Executive Director of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda. Delegates visited the EACOP booth to engage with the team and review ongoing national content and capacity-building initiatives.

EACOP’s National Content Manager, Merian Ahabwe, also contributed to a high-level discussion during Panel Session 2: Harnessing Regional Synergies for National Content Growth. She emphasized the project’s commitment to maximizing the participation of Ugandan and Tanzanian companies, strengthening supplier capacity, and promoting regional collaboration to bolster East Africa’s emerging oil and gas supply chain.

To date, thousands of Ugandans have benefited from EACOP’s training programmes, acquiring skills that support long-term employment and enhance regional competitiveness.
