Absa Bank opens a new branch in Nansana, Uganda, to expand its footprint and deliver comprehensive financial services closer to the community
KAMPALA, Uganda — Absa Bank Uganda announced the opening of a new branch in Nansana, located at Sibyangu Plaza, as part of its ongoing expansion to increase access to financial services across the country.
The launch, which included representatives from the Bank of Uganda, regulators, local government officials, and community leaders, underscores the bank’s commitment to growing its footprint and promoting financial inclusion.
Moses Rutahigwa, Retail Director at Absa Bank Uganda, emphasized the new location’s role in empowering the local population.
“We are excited to extend our comprehensive banking solutions to the people of Nansana,” Rutahigwa said. “This branch will empower individuals, entrepreneurs and businesses to achieve their financial goals and also reinforce our mission of providing customer-centric financial solutions across Uganda.”
David Wandera, Managing Director of Absa Bank Uganda, noted the opening reflects a strategic vision to improve the customer experience.
“The opening of our Nansana branch reflects our long-term vision to enhance customers’ experience, make banking simpler, and bring it closer for the communities through strategic touchpoints,” Wandera said. “As we expand our footprint, we commit to driving financial inclusion and empowering Ugandans towards economic growth.”
The Nansana branch will offer a full suite of services, including a digital center, personal banking, savings, and financing opportunities.
Mackay Aoumu, Acting Executive Director of Bank Supervision at the Bank of Uganda, who represented the Central Bank Governor, commended Absa Bank’s position in the market.
“Absa Bank stands out as one of the top five banks in Uganda, with a wide footprint of over 40 branches and 90 ATMs, and a strong market leadership in digitalization,” Aoumu said. He praised the bank for its “passionate commitment to financial inclusion,” accessibility, and “high level of transparency in management and operations.”
