Chinese automaker Jetour has launched its DASHING and X70 Plus SUVs in Uganda, promising new value and reliable aftersales service for local drivers.

KAMPALA, Uganda — Chinese automaker Jetour Group has launched sales in Uganda, introducing two new sport utility vehicles, the DASHING and the X70 Plus, to the East African nation’s market.

The move marks a significant expansion for the brand, which was founded in 2018 under the Chery Holding Group and has rapidly grown into a global automotive player.

The announcement was made at a launch event in Kampala, where Al Mamoun East Africa was named the exclusive distributor for Jetour vehicles in Uganda. The distributor committed to establishing a showroom and a dedicated aftersales service center in Namanve.

Ugandan government officials welcomed the investment. Moses Kaggwa, acting director at the Ministry of Finance, Planning & Economic Development, thanked the company for its commitment to the local economy.

“I thank you for investing in our economy and creating employment for many Ugandans. We pledge to support you,” Kaggwa said.

Jetour officials emphasized that their entry is aimed at addressing a gap in the local auto sector by offering vehicles that provide a combination of value, modern design, and robust performance.

Zein Abdelmutaal, Chief Operating Officer for the distributor, implored customers to buy brand new vehicles, assuring them of strong aftersales support. “We are fully committed to investing in aftersales support, availing spare parts and building solid channels so that maintaining a Jetour in Uganda is easy,” Abdelmutaal stated.

The initial models include the DASHING, a compact SUV, and the X70 Plus, a more spacious option. The company plans to expand its offerings later this year with the introduction of the rugged Jetour T2.
