KAMPALA, Uganda — MTN Uganda’s corporate social responsibility arm has graduated 103 youths from the second cohort of its MTN ACE Initiative, a program that provides digital, business and entrepreneurial skills.
Of the 154 students admitted, 103 completed the program. Forty-four of those graduates progressed to the ACE Career path, which offers practical training and paid internships. Thirteen of those interns have secured employment at MTN Uganda. Since the initiative began in 2022, 188 youths have graduated, with 21 now employed at the company.
The MTN ACE Initiative, launched with an investment of UGX 2.17 billion, is designed to combat youth unemployment, which stands at 13% for a population where 75% are under age 30, according to the World Bank and Uganda’s Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development.
“We are pleased to see this initiative gaining momentum and making an impact as reflected in the achievements of our latest graduates,” said Enid Edroma, general manager for Corporate Services at MTN Uganda. “We hope the skills and knowledge you have acquired give you confidence and inspire you to contribute meaningfully to Uganda’s digital and economic transformation.”
The initiative aligns with MTN Uganda’s Ambition 2025 strategy and Uganda’s national development goals. It is delivered in partnership with several organizations, including the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance, Makerere University Business School, Centenary Technology Services, and MTN MoMo Uganda.
