Uganda Airlines and Air India have forged a new interline partnership, significantly expanding their networks to provide enhanced connectivity and travel options between Africa and the Indian subcontinent.

ENTEBBE, UGANDA — Uganda Airlines, the national carrier of the Republic of Uganda, and Air India, a leading global airline, have finalized a new interline partnership. The agreement, which took effect on August 25, 2024, is designed to seamlessly connect the networks of both carriers, providing travelers with expanded options between Africa and the Indian subcontinent.

The strategic deal allows Uganda Airlines passengers to book a single ticket for travel from Entebbe International Airport (EBB) to over 25 destinations across India and key international hubs. These connections will be made via Air India’s main gateway in Mumbai (BOM), significantly expanding Uganda Airlines’ global footprint.

Among the destinations now accessible to Uganda Airlines customers are major Indian cities such as Delhi, Bengaluru, and Chennai, along with international hubs including London Heathrow, Bangkok, and Singapore.

In a reciprocal benefit, the partnership also opens up the “Pearl of Africa” to Air India’s extensive customer base. Travelers from India and other parts of Asia can now fly to Mumbai or Dubai with Air India and connect to Uganda Airlines flights to Entebbe. From Uganda, they can access the country’s business and tourism opportunities or connect to other destinations on Uganda Airlines’ growing African network, which includes cities in South Africa, Nigeria, and Tanzania.

“We are excited to launch this partnership with Air India,” said an official from Uganda Airlines. “This interline agreement is a significant step in our strategy to connect Uganda to Africa and beyond. It provides our customers with a smooth, single-ticket travel experience to dozens of new destinations, strengthening economic and cultural ties between our regions.”

The agreement underscores a key strategic move for both airlines, aiming to enhance their networks and offer greater travel convenience to customers across two continents.
