Matsiko is a respected figure in the Electricity Supply Industry, bringing extensive experience.
KAMPALA, Uganda — The Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd. (UETCL) board of directors have appointed Eng. Richard Matsiko as acting chief executive officer, effective immediately.
Matsiko’s appointment follows the resignation of Mr. Joshua Karamagi, who previously held the CEO position.
The board accepted Karamagi’s resignation.
Matsiko is a respected figure in the Electricity Supply Industry, bringing extensive experience.
He began his career as a trainee electrical engineer at the Uganda Electricity Board (UEB) on March 1, 1991.
He later transitioned to UETCL, where he served as principal protection engineer and rose to the position of deputy chief executive officer.
In addition to his new role, Matsiko chairs the Chairman Power Purchase Agreement Committee and a committee responsible for the new UETCL Towers (Head Office Building).
The board expressed gratitude to Karamagi for his contributions to UETCL during his tenure as CEO.
He oversaw key projects such as the Gulu-Agago 132 kV, Kole-Gulu-Nebbi-Arua 132 kV project, and spearheaded the development of the company’s five-year strategic plan.
Kwame Ejalu, chairman of the board,welcomed Matsiko’s appointment to the position.
