Kampala, Uganda – C-Care Uganda, private healthcare provider, has celebrated its second annual awards ceremony, recognising outstanding innovative and operational excellence across its network.

The event, held on 26th July 2025 at Mestil Hotel, highlighted the organisation’s commitment to improving innovative healthcare standards nationwide.

Dr. Rony Bahatungire, Commissioner for Clinical Services at the Ministry of Health, commended C-Care for creating a vital platform to acknowledge the significant contributions of health practitioners in Uganda. His presence underscored the government’s support for initiatives that elevate healthcare quality.

This year’s awards spanned nine categories, honouring facilities that have implemented innovative strategies to enhance patient experience and operational efficiency.

Andrew Mugalu, General Manager of C-Care IMC, emphasised the intrinsic value of these efforts. “In professional healthcare, operational excellence is not just our goal, it’s a culture we are building to ensure every patient interaction in our facilities is meaningful,” he stated.

Mr. Mugalu also highlighted the network’s significant growth over the past year, with patient numbers increasing from an average of 43,000 to 50,000 per month. The network has expanded to 22 facilities across the country, with three centres in Mukono, Mbale, and Gulu transitioning into hospitals.

Azhar Sundhoo, CEO of C-Care Uganda, reflected on the journey since the awards’ inception. “Exactly one year ago, we launched the C-Care Excellence Awards. We asked ourselves, can excellence become our way of life? Today, after 12 months, we reflect on this journey in how we serve our patients, lead our team, and build a system we can trust,” he said.

Mr. Sundhoo added that excellence is now “embedded in the way we carry ourselves every day,” noting that the awards have motivated the team to consistently prioritise patients.

Categories for recognition included Laboratory Services, Service Excellence, Facility Operations, Human Resources, Pharmacy, Nursing Protocols, Billing and Credit, and Financial Performance, showcasing the comprehensive nature of C-Care IMC’s operational framework.

The awards serve to reinforce C-Care’s dedication to fostering innovation and inspiring staff to maintain the highest standards of healthcare.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Sundhoo issued a powerful call to action: “To all the C-Care team, you have truly made excellence personal and measurable across all our networks. Excellence is not an event. It is the decisions, the consistent actions, and the high standards when no one is watching. Awards are not the goal. The impact is.”
