Acclaimed public relations expert Ian Rumanyika has announced his resignation from Uganda Baati Ltd, where he has served as Head of External and Corporate Affairs for the past three years and two months. His departure will take effect on June 30, 2025.
Rumanyika made the announcement in a statement released on Monday, expressing deep gratitude for the opportunity to lead the company’s strategic communications, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement efforts during what he described as a “period of growth and transformation.”
“It has been an honour to lead strategic communications, policy advocacy and stakeholder engagement through a period of growth and transformation,” Rumanyika noted, adding that he is proud of the milestones and impact achieved during his tenure.
A well-known figure in Uganda’s corporate communication circles, Rumanyika joined Uganda Baati in April 2022 after a distinguished stint at the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA), where he served in various senior communication roles and earned recognition for reforming tax communication.
At Uganda Baati, a member of the Safal Group, Rumanyika played a critical role in strengthening the company’s public image and forging strategic partnerships with stakeholders across government, the private sector, and the media. He also worked closely with institutions such as the Ministry of Finance, Uganda Revenue Authority, Uganda Manufacturers Association (UMA), Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU), the East African Business Council (EABC), and the Uganda Iron and Steel Association.

While Rumanyika did not disclose his next move, he indicated that he will be pursuing new professional opportunities with a continued focus on building purposeful partnerships and advancing public affairs across the region.
“As I take on new professional pursuits, I remain committed to building purposeful partnerships and advancing public affairs across the region,” he said.
Rumanyika’s departure marks the end of a highly visible chapter in corporate communications at Uganda Baati. His leadership was widely credited with enhancing the company’s external engagement and reinforcing its role as a major player in Uganda’s iron and steel industry.
